Where DSC comes into corporate net banking

Several Indian banks require a Class 3 DSC for authenticating certain corporate internet banking activities, particularly bulk payment approvals, high-value fund transfers, and multi-signatory authorization workflows on corporate accounts. This is separate from personal net banking, which typically relies on OTP-based authentication instead.

If your bank or corporate treasury team has told you a DSC is required to approve payments or authorize transactions online, this is almost certainly what they mean.

Which certificate type to buy

For most corporate net banking authentication, a Class 3 Signing DSC, issued to the authorized signatory or approver on the account, is what's required. Banks generally specify Individual or Organization DSC depending on how the corporate account and its signatories are structured, confirm with your bank's relationship manager which they expect before applying.

Setting it up

Once issued, your bank's corporate banking portal will typically ask you to register or map your DSC against your banking profile, similar to how government portals require DSC registration. Your bank's own onboarding documentation will have the exact steps for their specific platform.
