Auditors & Taxpayers
A Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate for CAs, auditors, companies and individual taxpayers filing ITRs, tax audit reports and responses to notices.
Certificate type required
A Class 3 Signing DSC, registered on the e-filing portal against the PAN of the person who signs. Individuals and practising CAs use their own DSC; for a company or firm, the director, partner or authorised signatory signs with their DSC.
Companies, political parties, and firms or LLPs whose accounts are audited under Section 44AB must verify their ITR with a DSC. Aadhaar OTP / EVC is not accepted for them.
Beyond filing your own return, a DSC is what lets CAs and auditors digitally certify reports on a client's behalf.
Under Rule 12 of the Income-tax Rules, some taxpayers can only verify their return with a digital signature. Here's where you stand.
DSC is mandatory for every company ITR, whatever the turnover. The director or authorised signatory signs with their own DSC.
If your accounts are audited under Section 44AB, the ITR must be verified with the partner's or designated partner's DSC.
You upload Form 3CA/3CB-3CD, Form 10B and other certifications with your own DSC, for all your clients.
Trust audit reports (Form 10B/10BB) are uploaded by the CA with a DSC. Political parties must verify their ITR with a DSC.
Since 2024 you can verify with Aadhaar OTP / EVC, but many choose a DSC to sign notice replies and audit acceptance quickly.
A registered DSC lets you sign and submit responses, rectifications and appeals online without visiting an office.
Don't get stuck at the last step
A tax audit report isn't complete when your CA uploads it. The taxpayer has to log in and accept it, and for a company or audited firm that acceptance is signed with a DSC. Many businesses only find this out on deadline day.
Get your DSC before the deadline →Taxpayer assigns the CA
On incometax.gov.in, add your CA under Authorised Partners and assign Form 3CA/3CB-3CD (or Form 10B for trusts).
CA uploads with their own DSC
The CA prepares the report and uploads it, signed with the CA's registered Class 3 DSC.
Taxpayer accepts the report
Under Worklist → For your Action, accept the uploaded form. Companies and audited firms/LLPs sign this with their DSC.
File and verify the ITR
File the return and verify it with the same DSC before the ITR due date for audit cases.
A new DSC must be registered once before you can sign anything on the portal.

Under the new Income-tax Act, 2025, tax audits for tax year 2026-27 onwards (income from 1 April 2026) will be reported in Form 26. This season's audits for FY 2025-26 still use Form 3CA/3CB-3CD. Either way, the report is uploaded and accepted with a Class 3 DSC, and the DSC you buy today works for both.

DSC stands for Digital Signature Certificate, an electronic credential that legally signs your Income Tax filings, replacing a physical wet-ink signature on documents submitted to the Income Tax Department.
Yes for companies, political parties, and firms, LLPs and other non-individual taxpayers whose accounts are audited under Section 44AB. Since 2024, individuals and HUFs, including those under tax audit, can verify with Aadhaar OTP or EVC instead, though many still use a DSC for audit acceptance and notice replies.
Yes. A practising CA's own DSC is used to digitally sign audit reports and certifications across all their clients' filings. It is tied to the CA, not to each client.
Once your DSC is registered on the e-filing portal, you can digitally sign and submit your response directly online instead of visiting a tax office.
The CA uploads Form 3CA/3CB-3CD with their own DSC after the taxpayer assigns the form to them. The taxpayer then logs in and accepts it under Worklist. Companies and audited firms or LLPs sign that acceptance with their DSC.
We process applications the same working day after paperless eKYC. You can collect the token the same day from our Ghatkopar West office, or we dispatch it by courier the same day. Then use Update DSC on the Income Tax portal to register the new certificate.
Yes. The company's ITR is verified by the director or authorised signatory using a Class 3 DSC that carries their own PAN and is registered on the e-filing portal.
Yes. One Class 3 Signing DSC works on the Income Tax, GST and MCA portals. You just need to register it separately on each portal.
Install your USB token driver and the emSigner utility, log in to incometax.gov.in, open Register DSC from your profile, select your certificate and enter the token password. Our step-by-step guide covers each screen.
Under the new Income-tax Act, 2025, Form 26 replaces Forms 3CA, 3CB and 3CD for tax audits from tax year 2026-27 onwards. Audits for FY 2025-26, due this season, still use Form 3CA/3CB-3CD. Both are uploaded with a Class 3 DSC.
