Troubleshooting
One place to check whichever portal you're on, since many DSC errors share the same root causes.
| If you see this | Try this |
|---|---|
| Token not detected | Reconnect the token, try a different USB port, and reinstall the token manufacturer's drivers. |
| Certificate expired | Renew your DSC, this is required regardless of portal or middleware issues. |
| Wrong middleware installed | Remember: GST uses emSigner, MCA and Income Tax use emBridge, ICEGATE uses its own PKI component, they are not interchangeable. |
| Java or browser security blocking signing | Add the specific portal's URL to your Java exception list or browser's allowed sites, then restart your browser. |
| PAN mismatch | The PAN embedded in your DSC must exactly match your profile on whichever portal you're using, correct the mismatched side. |
| Signing-only DSC used where Combo is required | ICEGATE, GeM and most tender portals require Combo, a Signing-only certificate will not work there. |
1) Confirm the token is physically detected by your system. 2) Confirm the correct portal-specific middleware is installed and running as Administrator. 3) Confirm your certificate hasn't expired. 4) Confirm you're registered on that specific portal. 5) Try a different, recommended browser. Working through these in order resolves the large majority of DSC issues across every portal.
We offer remote troubleshooting support for any DSC error, across any government portal, regardless of who issued your original certificate.
Reinstalling the correct portal-specific middleware (emSigner, emBridge, or the ICEGATE PKI component) as Administrator resolves the majority of signing failures.
It's a reasonable diagnostic step, if it works on a different machine, the issue is with your original system's configuration, not your DSC itself.
If you've confirmed the token is detected, middleware is correct, certificate isn't expired, and you're registered on the portal, but it still fails, that's a good point to get direct help rather than keep guessing.
