GST Troubleshooting
emSigner issues are one of the most common DSC problems on the GST portal, almost always fixable once you know the cause.
Match your exact symptom below.
| If you see this | Try this |
|---|---|
| emSigner server not started | Open emSigner and run it as Administrator, wait for the "service started successfully" message before retrying. |
| Browser blocks the 127.0.0.1 connection | Modern browsers block this localhost connection by default. Go to the URL shown in the error (like https://127.0.0.1:1585), click Advanced, then Proceed, to manually allow it. |
| "Digital Signature Certificate is missing" | Confirm your token is connected and your DSC is registered on the GST portal via Register/Update DSC. |
| Java Runtime Environment error | Install the specific Java version the error message requests, some emSigner versions still depend on it. |
| Port conflict (another app using the same port) | Open emSigner's settings from its system tray icon, check the port number, and close other signing utilities that might be using the same one. |
This resolves the majority of persistent emSigner issues.
Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and remove the existing installation.
Go to Register/Update DSC and use the official download link, not an old saved installer.
This avoids most permission-related failures.
A full browser restart, not just a page refresh, ensures the new installation is recognized.
We offer remote troubleshooting support for GST DSC and emSigner issues, regardless of which CA issued your certificate.
GST uses emSigner specifically, MCA uses emBridge. Working on one doesn't mean the correct middleware is set up for the other.
As of 2026, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge (in IE compatibility mode) tend to be more reliable for GST DSC operations than Chrome.
Yes, firewalls and antivirus software sometimes block the ports emSigner needs. Try temporarily disabling them if other fixes don't work.
