GST Troubleshooting
Beyond emSigner connection issues, here are the other common ways DSC signing fails on GST, and how to fix each.
| If you see this | Try this |
|---|---|
| PAN on DSC doesn't match GST signatory | Confirm you're using the correct signatory's certificate, and that your GST registration details match exactly, update either side as needed. |
| Certificate has expired | Renew your DSC, an expired certificate cannot be used regardless of how the token or browser is configured. |
| "Unable to verify DSC in the Registration Certificate" | Open the RC in PDF, right-click the unverified signature, go to Signature Properties > Trust, and add the certificate to your trusted list. |
| Token not detected by the system | Reconnect the token, try a different USB port, and reinstall the token's drivers if it still isn't recognized. |
| Using Class 2 DSC | Class 2 has not been accepted for GST since January 2021, you'll need a Class 3 DSC instead. |
Keep your token drivers, emSigner, and browser all updated to their latest versions. Most GST DSC errors stem from an outdated piece of this chain rather than a fundamentally broken setup.
We provide remote support for GST signing errors, and can issue a fresh Class 3 DSC same-day if yours has expired or needs replacing.
Companies and LLPs must use DSC. Other taxpayer categories can generally use Aadhaar e-Sign as an alternative.
