Quick answer
Uninstall emBridge, delete the leftover C:\Program Files (x86)\eMudhra folder, install the latest emBridge from embridge.emudhra.com with Run as administrator, then reopen the MCA portal and use Associate DSC again with the browser's Apps on device permission set to Allow.
The new Chrome / Edge permission most people miss
Recent Chrome and Edge versions block websites from talking to programs running on your own computer unless you allow it. emBridge is one of those programs, so the portal silently fails if this permission is blocked.
- On the portal page, click the site settings icon to the left of the web address.
- Find Apps on device (called Local network access in older versions).
- Set it to Allow, then reload the page.
If you clicked “Block” on the pop-up earlier, this is almost certainly why emBridge stopped working, even after reinstalling.
How to fix the emBridge error for MCA (6 steps)
Takes about 10 minutes. Log in with the user ID whose DIN/PAN matches the DSC.
-
1
Identify the emBridge error
On the MCA V3 portal you see a message such as “There was an issue with emBridge. Please try again.”, or the DSC option keeps loading and never finds your certificate. This means the portal cannot talk to the emBridge utility on your computer.
-
2
Uninstall emBridge
Close the browser first. Open Control Panel → Programs and Features (or Settings → Apps), find emBridge and click Uninstall. If an emBridge icon is running in the system tray, right-click it and exit before uninstalling.
-
3
Delete the leftover eMudhra folder
Uninstalling leaves old files behind, and these leftovers are what keep the error coming back. Open File Explorer, go to C:\Program Files (x86), locate the eMudhra folder and delete it. If Windows says a file is in use, restart the computer and delete it again.
-
4
Download the latest emBridge
Open embridge.emudhra.com in your browser, scroll to the Downloads section and download the latest Windows installer. Always use the official site, not a copy shared on chat apps.
-
5
Install it as administrator
Right-click the downloaded setup file and choose Run as administrator. Follow the prompts to finish. When done, check that the emBridge service icon appears in the Windows system tray at the bottom right. If it is not there, start emBridge from the Start menu.
-
6
Associate the DSC again on MCA
Reopen the MCA portal, log in and go to My Workspace → Associate DSC. Select the role, keep the USB token connected and pick your certificate when emBridge lists it. If the browser asks to connect to apps on your device, click Allow. See our MCA DSC update guide for the full association steps.

Frequently asked questions
Why does MCA show an emBridge error?+
The MCA V3 portal uses the emBridge utility to read your DSC from the USB token. If emBridge is outdated, corrupted, not running or blocked by the browser, the portal shows an error or keeps loading.
Do I need to associate my DSC again after renewal?+
Yes. A renewed DSC is a new certificate, so associate it again on the MCA portal using Associate DSC before signing e-forms.
What is the 'Apps on device' permission in Chrome?+
It is a newer Chrome and Edge permission that decides whether a website can talk to programs running on your computer, such as emBridge. Set it to Allow for the MCA portal. In older versions it is called Local network access.
emBridge works but MCA says name or PAN mismatch. Why?+
That is not an emBridge problem. The name and PAN on the DSC must match the details in the user's MCA profile (and DIN records for directors). Correct the mismatch or use the right person's DSC.
Which browser works best for MCA DSC association?+
Updated Chrome or Edge on Windows works best. Avoid incognito mode and make sure pop-ups and the Apps on device permission are allowed for the MCA site.
Can you fix this for me remotely?+
Yes. We connect remotely, clean-install emBridge and the token driver, set the browser permissions and help you associate the DSC. Message us on WhatsApp.
