Buying Guide
Most DSC delays aren't the Certifying Authority's fault, they're avoidable mistakes made before the application even starts.
A Class 3 DSC application is genuinely simple, Aadhaar eKYC, a short video call, done. Most delays that professionals actually experience come from a handful of avoidable mistakes, not from the process itself being slow. Here's what to watch for.
The single most common cause of a failed or delayed eKYC. If your name on Aadhaar doesn't exactly match your PAN (spelling, initials, order), verification fails. Fix this with UIDAI or the Income Tax department before you apply, not during.
eKYC OTP goes to the mobile number registered with UIDAI, not just any number you give. If you've changed your phone number and never updated it with Aadhaar, verification will fail. Check this before you start, updating it with UIDAI can take a few days.
Signing DSC won't work on ICEGATE or GeM, they need Combo. Individual DSC won't satisfy an MCA filing that needs to carry your company's identity too, that needs Organization DSC. Confirm exactly which type your specific filing needs before ordering, not after.
If you're the authorized signatory for a company, a Board Resolution (or equivalent authorization) confirming that is usually required. Not having this ready when eKYC is scheduled is a common, entirely avoidable delay.
Your certificate can be issued same-day, but if you haven't installed the token's driver and middleware in advance, you'll lose time getting it working once it arrives. Ask your provider for driver links ahead of delivery, not after.
Even a genuinely same-day process has edge cases, a failed video call, a document mismatch, a courier delay for the token. Applying a few days before a filing deadline, rather than on the day, gives you room to fix anything that comes up.

Before your eKYC call is even scheduled, we confirm your Aadhaar-PAN details match, verify your mobile is linked correctly, and check exactly which certificate type your filing needs. Driver links and setup guidance are shared ahead of token delivery, not after, so there's nothing to figure out once it arrives.
The old process meant physical documents and courier turnaround. Aadhaar eKYC removes both.
If you're against a deadline, a same-day DSC can be the difference between filing on time and missing it.

It can be questioned like any evidence, but a Class 3 DSC signature is difficult to repudiate, since it's cryptographically tied to an identity verified by a CCA-licensed CA, courts generally treat this as strong evidence of authenticity under the IT Act.
Yes, Aadhaar e-Sign is also legally recognized, but it's a different mechanism, generated per-transaction rather than tied to a certificate you hold. Companies and several portal filings specifically require a DSC rather than e-Sign.
Yes, your own Individual DSC can sign filings on behalf of multiple clients where you're the authorized signatory or preparer, it's tied to your identity, not a specific client.
Some older portal signing tools were built Windows-only. Most modern tokens and portals support Mac now, but check your specific token's driver page, and use Chrome or Safari with the correct middleware installed.
Not usually, Class 3 DSC validity for MCA, GST, Income Tax and ICEGATE filings is well-established and standard. If you have a genuinely unusual legal question specific to your situation, that's worth a lawyer's opinion, but routine filings don't need one.
